10/23/10 - Eagle Creek East (Halloween-O)
Event: Get ready to be scared! This fun night orienteering event is a family favorite. Costumes are encouraged and we always have fun prizes and twists that you won't find at a regular meet. The meet directors are silent on the details so far but past events have included candy at controls, a mobile ghost that you had to catch in the woods for bonus points, and a spooky cemetery. The event will start just after sunset so flashlights or headlamps are a must!
We will have awards for the best costume as well as for the top finishers of the events. You will be turned loose right at 7:00 so don't forget to show up early enough to leave time (usually at least half an hour is a good bet) for registration and to come up with a strategy for attacking the course.
Date: Saturday, October 23rd, 2010
Location: Eagle Creek Park, Earth Discovery Center. The Earth Discovery Center is a relatively new building in Eagle Creek at 5901 Delong Rd. To get there from the main park entrance on 56th St, just go straight past the entrance station. Take the second left heading toward the marina, but before you get to the marina, take the first left and follow the road all the way to the end where it will dead end into the Earth Discovery Center parking lot. Note that you will have to pay to get into Eagle Creek Park which is $5 per car.
