We've got the details for this Saturday's meet up. Just like the Halloween O it will be starting on the EAST side of Eagle Creek Park, from the Discovery Center. Please note that there is a nominal fee at the gate of the park. Also, due to availability of the facilities, we will have a narrower than normal starting window. Please get there early!
Finally, you'll notice that we are offering a "special" red course. This course will be a standard red course, but with a twist. You will be required to make some navigation choices while out on the course. Come on out if you want to know all the details.

Click here to register via active.com. Remember each person has to register themselves, and just make sure you all have the same course selected, and the same team name and we'll get you on the team list properly.
For those of you that prefer the "old fashioned" paper copies, we'll have the registration form updated soon.
We'll also get the details updated on the site, but for planning purposes this years rogaine will be in Owen Putnam near Spencer, IN.

Just a reminder about the meet at Eagle Creek East coming up in a couple of weeks. We haven't done a normal "daytime" meet here in a while, so it should be fun. We are in dire need of volunteers for this one, so if you can help in any way please email Jerry directly at jlyons@indyo.org. We all will really appreciate it!
Also, keep an eye out on the website (and your email) for details on registration opening for the rogaine, we hope to have that done by the end of this week.

In an attempt to avoid as many scheduling conflicts as reasonable we've decided to move the date for this years rogaine to April 7th. Keep an eye on the website the next few days as we'll have registration open soon. Hope to see you out there! |

Results for the meet this past weekend are posted.
We had what was easily the best weather ever for this meet! With temperatures in the high 40's and some sun shine it was quite a departure from past years where we've seen everything from snow to bone chilling cold. (or both) The favorable conditions likely played no small part in the great turnout we had. Over 40 groups and individuals participated, with well over 100 total people in attendance!
Thanks to Jay Newlin for designing the course again this year, and to Monty Wilson for helping Jay to set the course on Friday. Joel Sauer helped with clean up once again along with Paula Pearson and Jason Zorilla. Finally, thanks to Mattias Eriksson for the quick turnaround on the results.

Just a quick reminder that the EC Score O is this weekend. Please come out and join us! A member pointed out that our pricing description can be a bit confusing. We wanted to clarify that the charge is per person OR SMALL GROUP if you are completing a course together. So, if you are a family completing a course together you pay ONE fee, not a fee per person.
We have a date up for our February meet (2/25/12), it will be on the East side of Eagle Creek. We'd like to do something different so we are looking at using a Farsta or Goat format. Or if weather cooperates, we might eve try adding in a "Ski-O" course if anyone has some cross-country skis at home. If you're familiar with these special course types and have an opinion, let us know what you think. If you don't know what they are, hang tight, we'll be sending out another email soon with descriptions for you!
Finally, we have a date for the Rogaine! It will be 3/24/12. We'll announce the location soon, and also have registration open soon. Mark your calendars! |

If any of you orienteering enthusiasts are interested in something a little longer than our normal weekend meets, you might consider POCAR. The Purdue Outing Club Adventure Race is essentially a 48 hour rogaine (with the occasional wrinkle thrown in). It's being held in Hoosier National Forest this year. If you are interested, check out their web site for more info!

Belzer Results Our apologies for the big delay on these results. A surprising number of dedicated orienteers braved the rain on the 4th of December for a great day of orienteering. The wet punch cards did make for some challenging scoring!
Thanks to all of you for defying the cruddy weather to come and join us! And, thanks of course to all our great volunteers: Frank Baukert - Beginners Clinic Jerry Lyons, Cristal Garrison - admin Aaron Phillips - Timing Joel Sauer - Course cleanup (in the rain, AFTER running a course of his own).
It's great to see some new faces coming out to help!

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn all the ins and outs of designing and setting a course. You can also stick around for their Billy Pig on Sunday and get in a little O! Just a few quick notes.
WE ARE GOING TO BE STARTING IN HUT K-28, CLICK HERE FOR A BELZER MAP, YOU CAN ALSO FOLLOW FLAGS/SIGNS FROM THE PARKING LOT.
1) The meet will be rain or shine, so dress accordingly. All the courses are short, so you won't be in the rain all day! 2) Bring something to protect your map. It's an 8.5 x 11 map, so a freezer bag will work 3) We will have White, Yellow and Orange courses, but they all will be a bit shorter than normal. 4) We will also have a timed score O option. Get as many points as you can in the given time. The time limit will be set so that it will NOT be possible to get all the points. Strategy will be key! 5) Again, we will have a brief annual general membership meeting with elections. Please stick around!
